Description
First distilled in 1779, Paddy whiskey originally sold under the unlikely name “Cork Distilleries Company Old Irish Whiskey” until a young salesman by the name of Paddy Flaherty joined the company in 1882.Paddy was a larger than life character who became famous for his then daring innovation of sampling his potential customers, by buying a round of his whiskey in each pub he visited. Over time, Paddy became synonymous with the whiskey and publicans began writing to the distillery asking for another case of “Paddys whiskey.” The “Paddy Whiskey” name stuck and in 1912 the distillery owners bowed to public pressure and officially changed the name to “Paddy Irish Whiskey.”Distilled three times from the finest quality barley and water from the East Cork countryside, Paddy is matured for up to seven years in dark aromatic warehouses. Paddy is an exceptionally mellow whiskey, distinguished by the generous proportion of single malt in its blend. Its relatively low pot-still content and high proportion of malt whiskey ensure Paddy is… “one of the softest of all Irelands whiskeys” Jim Murray, International Whiskey Connoisseur
